It's often a spouse who's a few years younger, an adult child helping a parent, or someone caring for a partner who needs support. The honest answer is a little more flexible than most people expect.

At least one occupant of a Rossmoor home must be 55 or older. That person is the one whose age qualifies the household. It doesn't mean everyone living in the home needs to be 55

What About a Spouse or Partner Who Isn't 55 Yet?

This is where the flexibility comes in. A spouse or domestic partner can live in Rossmoor as a co-occupant as long as they are at least 45 years old, and the primary occupant meets the 55-and-older requirement. So if you're 58 and your spouse is 52, you're both able to move in together without any issue.

Age verification is part of the purchase and orientation process, so this isn't something that gets sorted out informally after you move in. It's confirmed up front, which actually makes the process more predictable, not less.

What About Caregivers or Adult Children?
